Frequently asked questions

Important information about requests, privacy, wishlists, introductions, and the limits of the service.

Does submitting a form guarantee that I will receive help?
No. A submission does not guarantee acceptance, a response, an introduction, a purchase, delivery, continued support, or any particular outcome. Availability depends on individual supporters who act voluntarily.
Is Lifeline US a charity or social-service agency?
No. Lifeline US currently has no separate corporate, nonprofit, charitable, or tax-exempt legal status. It is an introduction-only website and is not an emergency, government, health, housing, or social-service program.
Does Lifeline US give me money?
No. The model does not involve cash payments. If an American supporter chooses to help, they may purchase selected practical items through your Amazon.ca wishlist.
What should I put on my wishlist?
Focus on reasonable, practical household necessities such as pantry staples, personal-care items, children's everyday needs, and laundry or home supplies. Do not request cash, gift cards, cryptocurrency, controlled items, or account credentials.
Do I need an Amazon.ca wishlist before applying?
No. You may submit the request form without a wishlist link and prepare the list later. A wishlist will be needed before a supporter can use this purchasing model.
Will a supporter see my home address?
Address visibility depends on Amazon.ca's current wishlist and checkout settings. Review Amazon's settings carefully and inspect your public list before sharing it. Never type your street address into the Lifeline US request form or public wishlist notes.
What information should I avoid sending?
Do not send banking or card details, passwords, government identification, medical records, children's identifying information, or other sensitive data. Keep your request limited to basic contact details and a general description of practical needs.
How does the American supporter participate?
AdoptCanada.org is the companion site for Americans interested in helping a Canadian household. LifelineUS.org is the Canadian-facing request site. Any supporter acts as a private individual and independently decides whether to purchase an item.
Is Lifeline US affiliated with Amazon?
No. Lifeline US is not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by Amazon. Amazon.ca is a third-party retailer with its own terms, privacy practices, prices, eligibility rules, and delivery policies.
What if I need urgent help?
Lifeline US cannot provide emergency assistance. Call 911 if you are in immediate danger. For community, government, and social-service referrals in most of Canada, call 211 or visit your provincial or territorial 211 service.
